Patria was founded to support the armed forces community and one of our principles is that every team member is a veteran. So we are delighted to welcome two former servicemen to the Patria team.
Dan Hands, a Commando Sapper, joined Patria this month after a 17-year career that spanned 21 countries and two wars.
“I was privileged to serve alongside committed men and women on frontline operations, where I saw at first hand the physical consequences of conflict on our soldiers, sailors and airmen. Yet it wasn’t until later that I realised the scale of the abiding trauma - physical and mental - affecting those that returned. The charities we support provide a safety net for thousands of veterans dealing with the legacy of conflict.
“Leaving the Army, I was determined to work for a company that has similar values to the military. Whether it’s our charity partnerships or our determination to make in Britain or the way we treat our customers, Patria is committed to excellence.”
Dan is taking charge of Patria’s operations.
David London served for five years in The Life Guards and commanded a troop of Challenger tanks in the 1990 Gulf War. He also served in The Foreign and Commonwealth Office as a diplomat and for the past decade has advised leading corporations on matters of risk and strategy.
“My military service began as the Cold War ended, and ended just as our armed forces embarked on two decades of near-constant combat operations. As such, I was not called on to endure the hardships of many of my contemporaries and successors in uniform, and I am in awe of what they have been through and achieved.
”Times of war can be good for military charities’ finances, as the British public is generous when it is reminded of the sacrifice of servicemen. But when the shooting stops, the needs of those whom war has damaged do not go away, and that is why I have been inspired by Patria’s mission to provide a reliable income stream to the charities that support our veterans and their families.”
David is helping shape Patria’s growth plan.
